Anyone hunting
for antiques in Devon knows that Honiton is one of the best places to look with its 85 dealers. This year sees the town celebrating
this with its first festival to coincide with National Antiques Week (14 – 20 November). Events include exhibitions, free valuation
days, a fair and a specialist auction. Also, the festival will promote the ethos “Antiques are Green”. We always recommend
Honiton to anyone coming to see us and this week of events will make it busier than ever. Further details can be found at www.honitonantiquesfestival.com

The summer has yielded some reassuring results in the clock market proving there is still strong interest in timepieces.
As is normally the case, items from well-documented makers usually fare well and this remained so as an ebony veneered table clock
by John Knibb (younger brother of Joseph) easily exceeded its estimate at a North Yorkshire saleroom. Similar results were also
witnessed last month when a walnut table clock by John Wise again sailed past its estimate.
These are indeed encouraging results given
the current economic climate and obviously both makers are of keen interest as we currently have in stock a longcase
clock by a member of the Wise family, click here for further details. Whilst we do not have anything by the prolific Knibb family,
we do have a very fine example of the table/bracket clock by Thomas Taylor who served as a Master of the Clockmakers Company.
