David discovered a passion for clocks at an early age – buying his first at age 8 with the help of his then best friend’s father,
a great collector with an esoteric taste.
To fund his passion and business for clocks David started dealing in general antiques
whilst still at school and became a full time dealer in 1973. His early experiences have given him a very broad and comprehensive
knowledge – something that has been particularly beneficial when appearing on the BBC TV’s Antiques Roadshow and Going for a Song
and facing mystery items!
Clocks have always been the core of the business and regarded with as much importance as any piece
of furniture. Of particular appreciation is the often forgotten art of the provincial clockmaker. These clocks have as
much relevance and importance as the work of the master clockmakers of the 17th and 18th centuries. Makers such as Knibb and
Tompion can often overshadow the unsung heroes and their skill and workmanship but history has taught us the importance and significance
of everyday lives of ordinary people.
David has lived in the West Country for most of his adult life and in East Devon for nearly
20 years working from home with his wife, Freddie.
We extend a very warm welcome to anyone who wishes to view the clocks in Axminster
but prior appointment is required.
We make no apologies for this but we do not subscribe to the Twitter/Facebook ethos in communicating,
preferring to do it by telephone or even in person – a rarity these days! If you unable to view in person, we are happy to provide
detailed photographs and descriptions by email or post – please just let us know your requirements.

David is periodically asked to pen articles regarding clocks. Below are links to a few that may be of interest along with a
report from the Antiques Trade Gazette confirming what we have known for a while - "Antiques Are Green!".
