Fine Antique Clocks

William Webster of London
Circa 1760
A fine George III period London mahogany longcase clock of classic proportions by this
eminent maker - William Webster.
The richly figured mahogany case stands on a double plinth and has a moulded trunk door.
The hood has brass capped and stoped fluted quarter columns, and has a traditional pagoda top centred by original brass finials.
The
brass dial with silvered chapter ring has a strike/silent facility in the arch. The centre of the dial is matted and has a subsidiary
seconds dial and aperture of the day of the month. The corners and arch are finished with well cast, gilded rococo spandrels.
The
substantial five pillar movement is eight day duration and of high quality as befits this maker. The hours are sounded on a
bell.
This is an exceptional clock by any standards. The condition is most original after almost 250 years the clock
survives in more or less in the state it left William Webster's workshop.
Fully serviced, regulated and offered with 12 months
guarantee.
